COMMON QUESTIONS
HOW DOES THE BROKERAGE PROCESS WORK?
Helm Transport acts as your dedicated logistics partner. We vet carriers for authority, insurance, and safety ratings before matching them to your route. We manage the entire lifecycle from dealer release to final delivery closeout.
HOW ARE PRICING AND QUOTES DETERMINED?
Quotes are based on real-time market capacity, route distance, vehicle dimensions, and equipment type (Enclosed vs. Open). We provide transparent pricing that includes all fees, insurance verification, and logistics management.
WHAT ARE THE TYPICAL PICKUP WINDOWS?
Standard pickup windows typically occur within 1–3 business days of booking. For time-sensitive release requirements, we offer expedited dispatch recovery to meet strict dealer or auction deadlines.
HOW IS INSURANCE AND DAMAGE HANDLED?
Every carrier we hire must maintain high-limit cargo insurance. In the rare event of damage, Helm manages the claim process from report to resolution, working directly with the carrier and insurers so you don't have to.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE MY VEHICLE?
Ensure the vehicle is clean for a proper condition report. Remove all personal items and loose parts. Maintain roughly a 1/4 tank of fuel and provide the carrier with all necessary keys or gate codes for pickup.
HOW DO I TRACK AND COMMUNICATE?
We provide a single point of accountability. You will receive direct updates from our logistics team regarding dispatch status, pickup confirmation, and scheduled delivery times—no automated call centers.
WHAT ARE YOUR PAYMENT TERMS?
We utilize a standard brokerage deposit system. A partial payment is made upon carrier assignment to secure the slot, with the remaining balance typically due to the carrier via certified funds at delivery.
ENCLOSED VS. OPEN TRANSPORT: WHICH IS BEST?
Open transport is the standard for most daily drivers. Enclosed transport is required for high-value collectors, exotics, or vehicles with low clearance to provide total protection from weather and road debris.
HOW DO YOU WORK WITH CARRIERS?
We don't 'blind dispatch.' We maintain relationships with a network of verified carriers. Assignment is only finalized after verifying they have the specific equipment and ratings necessary for your vehicle type.
WHAT MAKES HELM A PREMIUM SERVICE?
Accountability. We specialize in complex dealer releases and high-value logistics where errors aren't an option. Our founder-led oversight ensures your shipment is treated as a priority, not just a VIN.
